Harold is perfectly placed to create this tribute to Britains's best, having styled legendary models from Jean Shrimton to Kate Moss, as well as Hollywood’s most illustrious locks, including those of Julie Christie, Faye Dunaway, Joan Collins and Sharon Tate. He's worked with the cream of British croppers - amongst them Vidal Sasoon, Trevor Sorbie, Leonard Lewis, Michael Rasser and Joan Frieda - alongside such photographic greats as Baily, Beaton and Laregan.
Throughout his long career, Harold has photographed the famous from Picasso to President Ford. It is his hobby and his love affair with hair that led him to create From Salon to Celebrity, an inspiring read for both client aspiring hairdressers and those simply fascinated by glamour, style and celebrity.
Harold Leighton - the man who shot the icons
Harold Leighton is one the most respected hairstylist and photographer of the 21st century and has authored HairCutting for Everyone and The Complete Book of Hair Care - From Salon to Celebrity.
Over the past decade his journalism features from Sassoon to Mascolo have graced consumer and trade journals. Leighton has been written up in 'Who's Who' 1978-1981, 'Who's Who in the Commonwealth' 1st edition 1982, 'The International Book of Honor' 1st edition, and 'Men of Achievement' 1982. Harold is one of the few hairdressers to achieve such accolades.
Leighton is life member of ‘The Fellowship of British Hairdressers’. His experience in Hair Products with the ownership of the 'Paul Mitchell' product line in Europe 1984-1996. Harold has produced many of Paul Mitchell’s photographic images.
Harold has worked with the top hairdressers and has photographed President Ford, James Coburn, Pierce Brosnan, Christopher Reeves, Martin Landau, Margeaux Hemmingway, Pamela Anderson, Roger Daltry, Pablo Picasso, Romero Britto and Princess Diana to Vidal Sassoon. Harold worked diligently on his photographic book 'From Salon to Celebrity', photographing 74 of the best hairdressers in the world.
Leighton now lives in Boca Raton Florida with his wife Maxine and continues to write books and features.
